These fast-growing suburbs, just west of Oklahoma City, are becoming popular among families and young professionals. Both Yukon and Mustang offers several shopping, activities and dining options, limiting commutes into the big city.  Let’s dive a little more into each town!

 

Yukon

Yukon is ranked #1 for the best place to live in Canadian County by Niche. Yukon is located off of I-40 and reaches all the way to Wilshire Blvd. This suburban town has great schools, provides an easy commute to Oklahoma City, has several activities and parks, and so much more. Yukon is also known for having historic Route 66 run through town. In fact, Route 66 runs along Main Street which has several shops to stroll through.

Things to do in Yukon

Yukon has so much to offer! Let’s start with parks. Yukon has several parks to enjoy some time outside. Some top-rated parks include Chisholm Trail Park, Eldon Lyon Park and Lake Overholster Park. Looking for a family activity? Visit the Express Clydesdales Ranch to see these majestic animals! Also, do not forget about all the shopping! There are several local shops along Main Street and the Oklahoma City Outlet Mall is just a short commute on I-40.

Yukon has 13 schools within its district. Yukon High School is one of the largest high schools in the state, with about 2,500 students in grades 9-12. According to Niche, Yukon has great school rankings: Yukon High School has a B overall Niche grade, Yukon Middle School has been given a B+ and Surrey Hills Elementary has been given a B+.
