Energy Efficient New Homes

We, at Home Creations, strive to be the best at building energy-efficient homes. We add several materials behind the walls of each home to increase energy efficiency, which saves you money! Here is a list of why we are No. 1 in building energy-efficient homes in the Oklahoma City area.

  1. HERS Index Ratings (between 42 – 46)

All of our new homes have a HERS Rating of 42 to 46. The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the industry standard by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured. The HERS Index is the most in-depth assessment of energy efficiency. This assessment takes into account all variables that can affect the energy efficiency of a home. These factors include exterior walls, attic, windows, doors, heating and cooling systems, ductwork, water heating systems, lighting, and appliances. Every Home Creations home is verified by the HERS home energy rating assessment, which is conducted by a certified RESNET energy rater.

  1. Duct System

We install a duct system that is 97% efficient with 16 SEER condensers.

Seams in boot are sealed with mastic before sheetrock is installed, followed by caulking around the gap after sheetrock to prevent air leakage. Sealing holes and cracks in the duct systems also reduce drafts, moisture, dust, pollen and noise; keeping the home more comfortable.

  1. Low-E Thermalpane Tilt-In Vinyl Windows with Argon Gas

The low-E coating reduces the amount of UV rays in conditioned space. The space between the double panes is filled with Argon gas as opposed to air, which reduces the amount of heat loss, heat gain or heat radiation coming into the home. This can also prevent sun damage to curtains and furniture.

  1. Navien Tankless Water Heater

Enjoy the luxury of not running out of hot water. Tankless water heaters also eliminate the extra cost of keeping gallons of hot water in a storage tank, wasting less energy. In fact, Home Creations uses tankless water heaters that are 97% efficient, which are the highest rated Energy Star gas water heaters. Also, the dual stainless-steel heat exchangers resist corrosion better than copper, which is commonly used in other tankless water systems.

  1. LED Lights

All light fixtures include LED lighting. These bulbs have many benefits such as more energy efficient, ecologically friendly, durable, longer-lasting, zero UV emissions, and the use of lower voltage; just to name a few.

  1. Radiant Barrier Decking

Radiant barrier decking is a highly reflective material that reflects radiant heat, rather than absorbing radiant heat. This reduces radiant heat gain in the attic. This type of decking will help keep the temperature of the attic cooler on hot summer months and therefore creating less pressure on HVAC systems to work harder and longer, in return prolonging the life of your HVAC unit. Not to mention, the attic will have less extreme temperature changes.

  1. R-44 Attic Insulation

R-44 attic insulation is used to help regulate temperature, keeping the home comfortable; and to make the home more energy-efficient. The “R” is the measure of thermal resistance and the higher the R-value, the greater the insulating effectiveness. In Oklahoma, the R-value should be at least a 30 for attics per code. Home Creations exceeds this standard, making your home operate more efficiently.
